Happy Birthday to the BEST MuM !!!

Have been thinking of it for the past last week. The increment of my allowance depends on it, so you get how important that is right? All my friends agree ...lol... What's limiting us is that we have next to nothing left over for any decent gift, for such an occasion , after we've spent all our allowances- which we usually do each month.

Of course we go to our dads for help. Vice verse for father's B-day, we go to our mums for a little something extra. Savings? You are kidding right? With our very modest allowance, how do we save? Someone suggest I give mum a hug ....lol.... no money can buy that right? Boy if I do that, I can see no future for my allowance of ever increasing.

In the end I made a card, complete with some soppy message. Also I bake a cake with the help of my maid...lol.. that really got to my mum! She almost cried, she was so touched! Me baking a cake for her - I could hear her calling her friends to show off ....hehehehehehhe.....

Dieting makes me mad.

Why?  Because junk food in moderation still means you are eating junk.  Just less of it.

While it’s true that we have a problem with a lack of healthy food in our hawker centres, that doesn’t explain why most of the people that you and I know are still buying and eating these high oil content & low nutritional food as meals everyday.

But what to do they are everywhere right? And we’ve lost the art of cooking- only grandparents can cook now. Even my parents R lousy cooks!

The way to health is to drink water, eat good quality food daily and exercise. We should start by learning how to cook simple healthy meals for ourselves. Go for a cooking class perhaps. My friend's mum cook pasta everyday for her ( she confessed ,because it’s easy & she’s a lousy cook). Now my friends is having a weight problem !!!!

Were you ever a victim of CyberBully?

Several characteristics distinguish cyberbullying from other forms of bullying, such as:

•Students who are victimized have no place to hide, and can be targeted anytime and anyplace.
•Cyberbullying can involve a very wide audience (e.g., through the circulation of video clips on the internet), although the bully may not be aware of the audience’s reactions.
•Students who cyberbully others are relatively protected by the anonymity of electronic forms of contact, which can safeguard them from punishment or retaliation.
•As with some indirect traditional bullying, students who cyberbully do not usually see the response of the victim, changing the satisfactions or inhibitions normally generated by bullying.
Forms of Cyberbullying
Much research has focused on one or two forms of mobile or internet bullying. There are seven forms of cyberbullying: mobile phone calls, text messages, picture/video clips, email, instant messaging, chat-rooms and websites. Of these, phone calls, texts and instant messages were the most commonly reported.
Impact of Cyberbullying
Victims of cyberbullying most commonly report feelings of frustration, anger and sadness  also report that victims feeling worried, threatened and distressed. Although most forms of cyberbullying were rated as having a similar impact, picture video clips were perceived to cause much greater harm than traditional bullying.
Coping Strategies
A common theme in research on bullying has illustrated how victimized children often show a reluctance to seek help. Cyberbullying appears to show a similar trend. Currently, it is not yet clear whether the recommended strategies are actually effective in either ending cyber bullying or effectively coping with its impact.
What Can Parents and Educators Do About Cyberbullying?
Anti-bullying interventions, classroom materials and school policies need to address cyberbullying by making staff and pupils aware of the problem, and provide help for those who experience it. Parents and staff may be unaware of the full range of technologies used by their children. Efforts are needed to enhance their knowledge, of the dangers as well as benefits associated with such technologies. Such awareness and guidance should include information on relevant legal issues and on ways of contacting mobile phone companies and internet service providers. New technologies are already being used in some schools to report both bullying and cyber-bullying behaviour. In this way, the anonymity that is afforded to the bully can be used more constructively to provide both help and support for victims of cyberbullying. In addition, advisory and support materials need to be circulated widely among schools and communities, as cyberbullying can take place anywhere and anytime.

Hike in public transport: I finally have the perfect excuse to get my own car !

It was just announced that there'll be a hike in public transport coming April across board !

I finally have the perfect excuse to get my own car. I'm sharing one with my brother now & have to take public transport once a while. My father give up, he says he get me one asap or at least before April...yay.....

Sweet isn't ???
Ok.... before you go ....what..... where's the logic ..... only going up 5cents at most & you need to buy a car???? How spoilt can you get????

It's not me, it's my parents. They both have a car & then they like to change cars every year especially before CNY. So this year when mum gets her new car, I'll adopt her mini cooper & turn it into something like this:

A wikipedia for current affairs?

Do you know anyone who design websites? Yes the nerdy kind. Well lately I met one & made the mistake of staying too long in a conversation with him. Now Nerdy thought I am his best buds!

He kept telling me his big plans, a big project that will completely revolutionized how we consume news- I was like- huh??? people still read news?? LOL. Pete & Josh were 'encouraging' him !

According to him, currently all news is top down. Some fascist corporation decides what's the most impt story, sends someone to report it, who then serves up all the Murdoch lies to the trusting public. Imagine challenging that! The internet allows it. Imagine millions of readers writing up whatever they might have just witness around the world, uploading their pictures & video footage & text. Millions more are searching clicking on to stories that interest them & hey bingo! The story with the most hits becomes the main item of news on the world's most democratic & unbiased news outlet .

I was thinking ...wow... hardly original right? think youtube. Plus how do you know the news is true & not made-up. He was surprise at that & said well 'if its made up, other people outside will comment & the story will quickly lose credibility . Or they can re-edit it themselves- its like Wikipedia. but for current affairs.'
Hmmm.....
